Course features and what you will learn
Course features
- This course systematically teaches data analysis methods that use vector data (spatial analysis, geoprocessing, geometry processing, data management, and more), focusing on operations you can use in practical work and research.
- Combining different processes can lead to new discoveries and insights from your data. The course introduces a variety of analysis methods by theme, so you build a solid grasp of the basics of each.
- It carefully explains key points that are hard to learn on your own, such as how to set a coordinate reference system (CRS) and what to do when problems occur.
- The course is linked with QGIS LAB by MIERUNE, so you can keep learning on your own after it ends.
Main topics
- Basics of spatial processing (such as buffer and clip)
- Geometry conversion (such as converting points to lines)
- Using attribute information (such as spatial joins of attributes and geometry calculations)
- Introduction to useful analysis tools
- Basics of coordinate reference systems

Who this course is for
- Anyone who wants to learn spatial analysis of vector data with QGIS
- Anyone who has taken “QGIS Training: Getting Started with QGIS: Basic Operations and Data Visualization” and wants to build their skills further
Common challenges and needs
- You know the basic QGIS operations but not how to do more advanced analysis and data processing
- You want to overlay map data for analysis, but it is hard to choose the right tool from so many
- You don't understand the concept of coordinate reference systems or how to set them properly
Learning goals
- Understand the characteristics of the main geoprocessing operations and choose the right one for each purpose
- Process and analyze data by effectively combining the many QGIS tools for selecting, joining, and analyzing data
- Learn the basics of coordinate reference systems and set them properly in QGIS
- Combine QGIS analysis functions as the situation requires to carry out practical spatial data processing
Course fee
- General ticket: ¥33,000 (tax included)
- Student ticket: ¥3,300 (tax included)
Certificate
- This course is certified under the QGIS Certification Programme.
- MIERUNE Inc. donates 20 EUR to the QGIS project for each certificate issued.
